Cotylorhiza tuberculata
Adobe Illustrator, 2024
Included in the 2024 AMI student salon. This infographic is designed for display at an aquarium, containing basic information about the fried egg jellyfish. The objectives are to locate the geographical areas where they are found, describe the morphology and name the stages of their life cycle. Schematics are used to keep the information straightforward. The purpose of this assignment was to learn the gradient mesh tool in Adobe Illustrator and use it for a photorealistic render. I first broke down the complex structure of the jellyfish into simple segments and used the gradient mesh tool for the larger color shifts, and built smaller shapes on top for the details. I also used Gaussian blur in certain areas to imitate the camera's depth of field, and the flare tool to imitate the lens flare effect.
