3D Render of the Scapula

3D Renders of the Scapula

Maya, ZBrush, Photoshop, 2025

The scapula bones, also known as the shoulder blades, are a pair of triangular flat bones located in the upper back and connect the humerus to the clavicles. This project was made using 3D Slicer, Maya, and ZBrush. 3D Slicer is a medical visualization tool that creates 3D segmentations from imaging data. The 3D mesh of the scapula was extracted from a set of MRI using Slicer, and brought into Maya for manual retopology.

The retopologized mesh was brought into ZBrush for further texturing, and a displacement map was created and imported back into Maya, where color and subsurface scattering were also applied. The mesh was then rendered with Arnold.
