Chylothorax

Illustrator, Photoshop, Maya, 2024

Included in the 2024 AMI student salon. This didactic illustration is intended for med students. The objectives are to describe the pathophysiology of chylothorax, explain how chyle is made, and locate the thoracic duct. I modeled the skeleton in Maya and used it as a base to construct the anatomy. The rest of the illustration was drawn in Photoshop and text was added in Illustrator. The piece is designed to be viewed beginning from the upper left, with the eye moving to the zoomed in lacteal illustration, following the arrow to the bottom right where the thoracic duct begins, and then to the top right where it terminates, consistent with the direction of chyle flow. Significant anatomical landmarks are labeled.
